BMGA: Inclement Weather & Cancellation Policy

As a matter of course, all BMGA events will proceed as scheduled.

Members should consider League play “On” unless the Brookview Management officially closes the course OR the Wednesday Night League Director and Club President in conjunction with Brookview management determine that it is in the best interest of the league to do so.

Decisions, Deadlines and Communication

The Decision Makers: The final decision to cancel a Wednesday league night will be made jointly by the Wednesday Night League Director and the Club President, with direct input from Brookview Management.

• The Deadline & Notification: A decision will be made no later than One Hour Before the first tee time on the day in question and will be emailed to all members.  This means 2:10 PM on Week 1, 2:20 PM on Week 2, 2:30 PM for weeks 3 -16, 2:20 PM for Week 17 and 2:10 PM for week 18
• Cancellation Status:The board will endeavor to notify all golfers via email as soon as a decision is reached.  If you have questions about whether league play has been cancelled contact your team captain.
• Weekend Events: Weekend events will only be cancelled in the event of the course closing.Mid-Round Stoppages & Voided Rounds

  In the event that weather forces a stoppage mid-round (i.e., the sirens sound), the following scoring rules apply:

  • Less than half the field finished: If fewer than 50% of the field has completed their round, the entire round will be voided.
  • More than half the field finished: If over half the field has finished their round, the BMGA Board will meet to determine how best to fairly address and score the situation.

  Make-Up Matches

  • Rain-outs are not automatically made up.
  • Exception Policy: If an excessive number of rain-outs occur (for example, three or more), the BMGA Board will work directly with Brookview Golf Course to attempt to extend the season and allow for make-up dates to ensure members receive full value for the season.

  Cart Availability & Captain Responsibilities

  • Carts Are Not a Factor: The availability of golf carts (including “cart path only” restrictions or temporary cart suspensions due to wet conditions) is not a factor in canceling a league night. If the course is open and walkable, the league will play.
  • Substitutions: Captains are advised to monitor the forecast closely. If cart restrictions are likely and you have players who are unable to play without one, please have potential substitutions ready ahead of time to ensure your team’s spots are filled.
