Some of the tightest handicap spreads I ever recall seeing for the Greek scramble this year. All the really good players found something better to do this weekend. “A” players range from 8-12 course handicaps. B-C range from 13-19.

Out of all of the teams listed, only two standout as potential winners. Team 9 looks like the obvious favorite. That team features an MVP list of BMGA greats including Pete “I can get an 11 on hole 18 and still win the club championship” Steichen, The Pres. Roger “I am standing” Hamm, Doug “I was winning Greek Scrambles before you were born” Paquette, and former shootout Champion John Bolduc. They will go on to shoot a -3 to win it all by two strokes.

If they don’t win it (and it would be a miracle if they don’t) the next potential winner could be team 8 with Jeff “I am taller than Roger” Towey, Curt “the coffee man” Medina, new comer Brian Egan, and yours truly, Double Eagle himself. I’m predicting this stellar group of fine gentleman to shoot -1.

Team 3 with the Hop/Roberts combo has a chance at third as does Team 4 with One Putt, Brower, Diedrich and Silberman.

As for the rest of you, thanks for your donations to the league.

I think the spoiler to your thinking might be Team 1. Brynteson, Penk and Couture, always seem to shoot well. If they get any help from Courtney, who not too long ago was a 18,should be right in the mix. But it’s tough to bet against Double Eagle Doherty. If team 6 can avoid the blow up holes watch out! My exacta box is 8-1-6

Thanks – you could have used “2 Time Match Play champion”, but no, you went with a short joke. Nary a matter – thanks for your donation too.

With the recent team changes, I need to adjust my picks. Team 9’s mojo just got altered with the removal of Bolduc’s calming force. I’m not certain it will make a difference, but my gut says it does. That means Team 8 jumps into the lead as the clear favorite. Team 6 has been making some noise complaining that they didn’t get any love in the initial write up. There’s definitely potential with that team as well, but also several question marks. I think they can play well together, but I don’t think Woloysn and Wethington have made any birdies over the last three years in golf league, and with Martin and Maday throwing up some big numbers, they will need plenty of birdies to keep them in contention. I am calling -1 as the winning team score.
