WNL Week 5 Results (5/24)

Division play shuffled the deck a bit but Team Hack Attack (#3) in the GVC West Division continues to lead the league with 221 points. No team is undefeated now that Mid Round Crisis (#11) suffered their first defeat at the hands of Fairway 2 Heaven (#2) 39-41. Mid Round still holds the #2 spot with 216 points followed Bald Man Brewing (#15) and 9th Green a 9 (#9).

Remember:

  • If you are not scheduled to golf on any particular night, we can use you as a spotter. It can help with pace of play.   To spot, just report to the pro shop and let them know and you’ll get a cart and flags for marking the ball. Common holes for spotting are #2, #3, #14, and #16.

The Weekly Rant

  • Legibility and addition suffered this week – there were several cards where the fold forced a bit of guesswork and back calculating to determine correct scores. Seven of the 32 cards had math errors and one card was missing last names and team numbers so I had to chase down the players to complete the cards. When you sign a card, please check for these details and make clarifications where needed.
  • Starting Tee times were on every one of 32 matches. Six matches on the front but no matches on the back were missing end times (For the few of you that don’t know, this is supposed to be the time you completed the last hole.)
  • The front 9 fell behind with the first group and maintained a 2:30 pace for the night. Early groups MUST maintain the proper pace or everyone suffers. You know who you are! The back 9 started with the first three groups maintaining a 2:00 pace! The 4 PM tee time lost 20 minutes. the following two groups picked up 10 minutes but the 4:30 tee time lost another 20 minutes and the rest of the night stayed at the 2:30 pace. The expected pace on the score card is 2:08, so we can definitely improve. Keep working on it and keep your foursome on pace!
  • If you are in the last group (6 PM tee time) please collect the on course flags when you leave the hole and put them in the bucket on the deck at the end of your round.

Weekly Reminders

  1. Pace of Play is critical. Here are some examples of how everyone can play a little faster:
    • Be early to your tee time.
    • Do not exceed time limit to search for a lost ball. The time limit is three (3) minutes!
    • Putting out after missing a putt vs. remarking a one footer.
    • Giving your opponent that six inch putt.
    • Max strokes on a hole is 9. Pick up after 8 attempts and record an “X”.
    • Playing ready golf vs. strictly following the “honors” system.
    • Everyone in the foursome is responsible for the pace of your foursome. Help each other keep moving.
  2. If an issue arises on the course during WNL play that may impact the result of a match, please bring the matter to the WNL Director’s (or other BMGA Board Member) attention so we can try to resolve it right away.
  3. Don’t forget to fix your ball mark and two others when you get to the green. We can all help keep Brooky looking and playing great.

Handicaps

  • If you are not entering your scores (or accurate scores) you are hurting yourself, your team and the people you are playing against. This includes WNL scores and “Away” scores.
  • All players are responsible for entering a correct course handicap per USGA Rule 3.2c (1). Post your scores for WNL as they are not entered by the BMGA or Brookview.
  • The WNL Director is not responsible for checking the accuracy of the player’s handicap on the scorecards. Check the GHIN App before teeing off to get your current handicap and adjust it to the Side (Front or Back) and Tees (Blue/White or Gold).

Scorecards

  • Please enter both the match start time and end time in the space provided.
  • Scorecards should be signed by at least one player from each team.
  • Please don’t fold the card where scores are entered – this really impacts legibility.
  • If someone concedes a hole, please mark an “X.”  This is especially important when both players score a 9 but the hole is conceded by the player who picks up their ball first.

  1. I shouldn’t be awarded a net skin. It says I net a net 3 on #3, when I made a 6. Don’t want to take the money from someone else who deserves it!

    • You are correct – data entry error. Points do not change as there were several mistakes on the scores I entered for you. Dean Penk gets all the $$$
