WNL Week 7 Results (06/07/23)

Division play shook things up a bit this week: In the BCC South, ForePlay (7) jumped from last to 2nd place with a 48.5 point win. Mid-Round Crisis (11) took over the lead position with 303.0 points while Team Hack Attack (#3) faded to 2nd place with a 35 point loss. In the GVC East, Who’s Your Caddy (6) claimed the lead with 45-35 win over previous division leader 9th Green at 9 (9). Next week brings conference competition which can have a big impact on wild card positioning.

  • Just a reminder: Two Wildcard winners from each Conference (highest scoring non-Division winner) will be the #3 and #4 seed in their respective Conference.

Shout out to Nick Ward with 44.5 total points in the MVP race leading Pete Crane (36.5) and Steve Couture (36.0). Lots of time to catch him, but that is a big lead!

Remember:

  • If you are not scheduled to golf on any particular night, we can use you as a spotter. It can help with pace of play.   To spot, just report to the pro shop and let them know and you’ll get a cart and flags for marking the ball. Common holes for spotting are #2, #3, #14, and #16.

The Weekly Rant

  • Legibility was really good again this week – you guys are getting the hang of it! Here is a listing of the the problems that slow down score entry. (each error cost 1-5 minutes to fix):
    • Number cards without finish time: Front: 3, Back: 4
    • Cards with folds across scores: Front: 3, Back: 1
    • Cards with addition errors: Front: 2, Back: 2
    • Cards missing team numbers or full names: Front: 0, Back: 2
  • Starting Tee times were on all of 32 matches – I think the starters added them. Thanks to the starters!
  • Pace of play – not nearly as good as last week but the last few teams on both the front and back did a great time of catching up. On the front, the first team finished in 2:00! The third group lost 10 minutes and the fifth group lost another 14 minutes. On the back the first group finished in 2:08 but the second group slipped 16 minutes. By the fifth group we had slipped to a little over 2:30 with the last group coming in at 2:22. Keep working on it and keep your foursome on the heals of the group in front of you – everyone will appreciate your efforts!

Weekly Reminders

  1. If an issue arises on the course during WNL play that may impact the result of a match, please bring the matter to the WNL Director’s (or other BMGA Board Member) attention so we can try to resolve it right away.
  2. If you are in the last group (6 PM tee time) please collect the on course flags when you leave the hole and put them in the bucket on the deck at the end of your round.

Scorecards

  • Please enter both the match start time and end time in the space provided. Make sure every bank on the card is filled in.
  • Scorecards should be signed by at least one player from each team.
  • Please don’t fold the card where scores are entered – this really impacts legibility.
  • If someone concedes a hole, please mark an “X.”  This is especially important when both players score a 9 but the hole is conceded by the player who picks up their ball first.
