It’s down to two teams! Bassett Creek Conference Wild card team CTB (Team #1), captained by Matt Grove persevered over Mid-Round Crisis (11) 43.5 – 36.5 to move into the championship match next Wednesday, September 27. Only 1 point down after the first two matches, Mid-Round Crisis was still positive but after the next two matches were lost 4-6 and 3.5-6.5 things looked bad. A 3.5-6.5 thumping in the 5th match put things almost out of reach with a 9 point deficit and only three matches left. A strong showing, but a split on the last card didn’t get it done.
Who’s Your Caddy (6), captained by Steve Shellenbaum continued their steady performance with an equally decisive 43.5 – 36.5 win over spunky Brooky Strong (4) in the Golden Valley Conference. After the first 6 matches Who’s your Caddy was up by 4 points with one foursome to finish. The 7th match came in tied at 5-5 but the last match went 6.5-3.5 for the win.
CTB had 667 points in the regular season. Ten other teams had a higher season point total but CTB is in the championship match for the season. Every team in the Golden Valley Conference had more points than CTB. But who played better in the playoffs? Keep this in mind next year…
