BMGA Members, due to the current rain and expected rain plus weather tomorrow, we have made the decision to cancel Week 5 (May 21st) of league. The course is under significant water; carts will not be allowed on the board for several days. The board will look our make-up date in September and decide as we get closer to our plans for that day.
We never like to cancel a week of league but given the course conditions, lack of carts and the expected additional rain between tonight and tomorrow, we decided to be proactive and cancel.
UPDATE: We have gotten a handful of questions of “why did we cancel it – it stopped raining – can’t we go”. A few things to be aware of:
This is our best estimate given the circumstances. Each one is different. If it had not rained all day yesterday, it is most likely we would have played today. So why is today unique:
- The amount of rain we received yesterday was a lot for the course. This morning there was standing water on several of the greens. We shouldn’t play in that.
- There are no carts and would be no carts. This impacts a lot of teams.
- The general weather plays a bit into it as well. If it was raining and 85 out, that is quite different than rainy and 44.
- Since the greens are soaked, if we get any additional rain and they flood out again, then we are in trouble. We are supposed to get a bunch between 3:30 and 8:30PM today.
- This is the biggest one. If the 4:30 PM tee time goes off and then we cancel the round because the coures is now unplayable, we must pay Brookview for all 128 players. This means, we do not have the ability to treat this as a rainout because we would have spent the money and gotten no week of play.
Its not a perfect science and we understand that not everyone will always be happy. If we had played, I would guess we would have had the other side and complaints about playing on a course that is basically underwater.

Ok, I’ll say it – hilarious photo… I can’t decide if it took 20 seconds or 20 minutes to have AI produce juuuust right for you, but either way I’m entertained, so thank you.
It was a fun one to find. Its not far from the truth, I meant to take a picture but this morning there was standing water on the lower corner of both 18 and 9 green.
