16-Man Team Buzzed at Home

We ran into a buzz saw against Fountain Valley on Sunday. Apparently, a bunch of the big guns from Valleywood decided to leave the club and join Fountain Valley because they were raising their rates (!). We actually played them very tough but came up short and lost 10.5 – 13.5.

Reports on the ground were that they had 5 rounds of 70 or lower! Trent Peterson led the charge with a smooth 66 in the first group…playing the day before the State Am at Edina CC where he would go on to finish THIRD at -9!!! Other notables were John Holmes and Justin Burleson, two guys that have had prominent amateur careers in MN. Have to think these guys should be bumped up to a higher division next year.

Mike Sustad and Kelly Gallagher led the Brookview squad with a rounds of 70 and 71. Great playing guys!

Nice job hanging in there guys. We did a great job to have a chance to beat these studs with the last group coming up 18.

16-Man Team Still Hot

The 16-Man Team brought the heat in it’s 7/14 match at Brookview. This was the first of the home-and-home second round match with the visiting Ponds at Battle Creek. The boys won 17.5 of the 24 available points on the day, positioning well for the next match on August 4th on the road.

The highlight of the day came out of the Krasen/Gallagher game where the two combined for 8 birdies and a best ball 67 to win a close match against some strong opponents.

If we can keep it going next month, we have a great shot at the playoffs.

16-Man Team Moving On

The Brookview 16-Man Team cruised to victory on Sunday June 2nd at home against an over-powered Meadowbrook squad. After a hot start on the road in the May match, the team only needed 7 points to advance but collected 18.5 on the day.

Highlights: Lunetta/Pacyna posted the low fourball round of 69 with six birdies on the card. Scott Hartmann tossed in a smooth eagle on two and Nick Schultz had the low individual round of the day with a tidy 72.

Great playing by the boys so far this year. Next up is little known Ponds at Battle Creek on the East side. The 9-hole course is not well known on the West side but they smoked Braemar in round one so they should not be taken lightly.

See you on the tee!
