Ok….before we get to my “red hot” prediction segment…..I have to give kudos to Doug Paquette. Tim Lueder and myself were to play Doug and Larry Hahka in the finals of our two-man match play bracket yesterday. Larry broke his hip and is out for the season. That meant Doug had to take us on solo. Doug closed Tim and I out 4 & 3 on his own. How is that possible you ask? Have you ever played a 19 handicapper that had FIVE natural birdies and shot a 78? It was quite the sight to see unfortunately. Hoping Doug can take home the title!
Who is a mudder?!? That is the key to the weekend. It looks like we are going to get wet. Here we go!
3rd FLIGHT NET
Close…Couture and Medina are in the hunt on Sunday until they both play the wrong ball on 16.
3rd – Larry Larson…..makes a late charge to nab 3rd after a five-putt on 13.
2nd – Dean Penk….Dean is on a roll….club slips out of his hand on 17 on Sunday leading to an unfortunate double…ending his title run.
1st – Doug Paquette…after what I saw in our two-man match…it would not surprise me if this flight is toast after Saturday!2nd FLIGHT GROSS
Close…Martin in the hunt but gets frustrated at the turn on Sunday when Brooky runs out of Vodka/Lemonade..dehydration on the back leads to a 52. Hop can’t recover from a major mistake on #6. From 115 out with a back pin…he pulls out a 6-iron vs a 9-iron…..proceeds to blast his shot into the pond on #4. Toast.
3rd – Jeff Towey…Brooky doesn’t favor left-handers…..or soccer players!
2nd – Luke Fox….a Wednesday Nite specialist….mojo carries over to the weekend.
1st – Marty Mangold….a true mudder…very Man o’ War like! Take it to the bank!1st FLIGHT GROSS
Close…First off….this flight is stacked! Very tough to pick. Nestvold was on my radar until I saw him take a quad on 18 from 15-fet Wed Nite. Ramiro always tough…but he just isn’t a mudder. Jordan is tough to bet against…but he plops it on the pond on #9 on Sunday….too greedy!
3rd – Matt Haws…movie star name…will be on the plaque some day.
2nd – Richard Brynteson….solid player….but gets the nod for giving me one of the later tee times! woot woot
1st – Steve Merriman….sharp from tee to green right now…if his daughter ends up caddying this weekend….it’s a lock!CHAMPIONSHIP FLIGHT
Close….What the?!? Only six guys? Hendy…Lueder and Gallagher all get a participation ribbons and a free beer using Stan Hop’s chits.
3rd – Michael Manion…..gotta like a guy with MM for initials!
2nd – Howie Hoffman…I know I know….tough to go against….but like Ben Crenshaw…I have a feeling.
1st – Erik Swanson….Swanny is no Man o’ War…but he most certainly is a mudder!Vegas has a Paquette/Mangold/Merriman/Swanson supertrifecta paying out $15,374 right now on a $2 wager. Get on it now before they see this post!
