Sr. Club Champ Results

Written by Jim Sanford:  The Senior Championship was a success, weather-wise and fun-wise.

Senior Championship:

  • Winner:               Scott Hartmann           73-77   150
  • Runner-Up:        Jim Sanford                  74-82   156

 First Flight (Net):

  • Champion:        Ted Roberts                  72-64   136
  • Runner-up:        Randy Zedjlik                73-69   142

Nearies:        Sat                                                                    Sun

4  Hahka                                                            4  Sanford

8  Diedrich                                                         8  Hahka

12 ——                                                              12 Reuter

17 Reuter                                                           17 Boufford

The Championship flight on Saturday was exciting, with both playing great.  On the front nine, for example Sanford birdied two, Hartmann birdied three, BOTH birdied five, Sanford birdied six, and Hartmann birdied eight.  When Sanford birdied 18 later to finish with 74 he was one stroke out.

Hartmann and Sanford were still one stroke apart standing on the 32nd tee Sunday.  Then Hartmann went birdie/birdie/par/par/par while Sanford went par/crap/crap/par/par.

WNL Semi-Final Results

In near perfect playing conditions, Drawshank Redemption took down Putt 4 Dough and Young Gunz ousted Hack Attack.  Not all of the cards were turned in, but it sounds like there was very little drama as Drawshank scored 65 points and from what I heard, Young Gunz won fairly handily as well.  Young Gunz and Drawshank will duke it out for the crown next Wednesday with tee times starting at 4:33.

2015 Club Championship Results

From Brad Kadue:

In the net flight, Gerry Meier overcame a pretty large day 1 deficit to take the title shooting under par both days

The 2nd flight probably offered the most drama.  In spite of Andy Kim putting up a 79 on Saturday, and Pete Steichen making an 11 on 18 on Saturday, somehow only 2 strokes separated Pete from Andy Kim on Sunday.  Kim increased his lead to 5 shots with 4 holes to play.  But the pressure must have gotten to him as he goes double, double, bogey, bogey down the stretch. Meanwhile, Pete stays ice cold parring out over the same 4 to win by 1.

The 1st  flight too had some drama, though nobody knew.  Jason Lunetta followed up an opening round 81 with very solid 77, which kept him well clear of the guys in his final pairing.  Little did anyone know, Justin Waters who had posted an 85 on Saturday, turned in the low round of the flight with a 75.  Jason’s birdie on 18 seemed like icing on the cake, but in fact bogey would have tied!  Lunetta wins by 2.

And in the champ flight, there was little drama indeed.  Dave Supalla goes wire-to-wire turning in the 2 lowest rounds of the entire tournament (71/73) in very difficult conditions, taking the championship.  This continues what for Dave has been one of his best summers of golf ever.  This brings to an end the unprecedented string of 5 consecutive wins for Howie Hoffman.

Congratulations to all winners.  It was tough going out there, you all deserve a round of applause.

Saturday nearies were as follows:

  • 4 – Supalla
  • 8 – Steve Shellenbaum Impossible!! House was about 5 inches!
  • 12 – Waters
  • 17 – Supalla

Sunday nearies were as follows:

  • 4 – Nick Hendrikson
  • 8 – Mangold
  • 12 – Slivken
  • 17 – Pacyna

Final MVP, WNL Shootout Standings, and Stats

MVP standings  — Justin Waters holds on to the WNL MVP honors by playing the final week and splitting his match just knocking off Emmy Yates.  Congrats Justin.  Enjoy those $250 in Chits.

Top 10 scores for Shootout- Final— The final WNL Shootout standings resulted in a tie for 12th place.  Those currently scheduled to be in the shootout are Stan Hop, Justin Waters, Gavin May, Matt Pacyna, Mark Hengel, Michael Meyer, Michael “Ace” Ryan, Craig Wethington, Emmy Yates, John Bolduc, Jim Hegedus, and a two way tie for the current final spot between Dan Olson and Nick Schultz.  It is likely that there will be overlapping players once the Cup Points get finalized so those on the edge of getting in like Rick Kadue, Bob Engebretson, and Dan LaManna, might still make it in.

Final Stats

Cup points and shootout standings will be updated after the Club Championship.

Week 16 Results

Final Week’s Recap:

It is Mike Ryan’s world and we are just living in it…. that is really all we need to know about Week 16.  Mr. Ryan decided that the hole in one purse had accumulated enough dough to make it worth his while for him to sink an ace on hole 17.  For those who were lucky enough to witness such a feat, they became temporarily blinded from the flash of light as angels sung from above as it happened.  Without divulging too much information about Mr. Ryan’s new found wealth, I can tell you he won somewhere between $2829 and $2831…. oh and a nearie worth $10 in chits.  Of course, this assumes no other aces occur in the remaining events we have on the calendar this year.

Moving on, my predictions from last week, as usual, fell flat on its face.  Drawshank floundered to finish in 3rd for the second half, but still remain the 1 seed in the playoffs.  Hack Attack was merciful enough to let Drawshank go with only a light spanking, but in doing so, Young Gunz took advantage and decided that $40 in chits looked very appealing.  Scoring 69.5 points in the final week, Young Gunz passed both Drawshank and Hack Attack to take the second half crown.  As a result Drawshank was stuck with its 1st wild card spot and Hack Attack took the 2nd wild card spot.

The playoffs start next week.  The playoff teams will take the 4:30 through 5:00 times and it is open season for the rest of the members.  Come on and play another free round and see how the first round of the playoffs turn out.  Drawshank as the 1 seed will be taking on Putt 4 Dough as the 4 seed.  Hack attack and Young Gunz will pound on each other as the 2 and 3 seeds respectively.

Week 15 Results

Last Week’s Recap (Playoff Edition):

Drive 4 Show has a playoff spot all wrapped up after winning the first half by 1 point over Drawshank Redemption.

For the second half trophy, the top three ranked teams all scored 62.5 or more last week to separate themselves from the rest of the pack but not from each other.  Team Hack Attack hangs on to a slim lead, over Drawshank Redemption (-2) and Young Gunz (-4.5).  Drawshank has a chance to redeem itself from the first half loss in the last week to Drive 4 Show, as they are matched up with Hack Attack in the final week of the year.

*Remember the top 2nd half team gets $40 in chits per player, 2nd place gets $20 in chits per player and 3rd gets $5 in chits per player.

The first wildcard spot is and has been firmly held onto by Drawshank Redemption for almost the entire year and with a 25.5 point lead over the next eligible team, and over 43 points ahead of the 2nd wild card team Drawshank is in the playoffs.  If they happen to pull out the top spot in the second half the top wild card spot will likely fall to Hack Attack.  There’s a slim chance that Young Gunz could take it, but seeing as Drawshank and Hack Attack are playing each other, Young Gunz will likely hold on to their 2nd wild card spot.

The second wild card spot was up for grabs with Putt 4 Dough only 1.5 points back and Unfinished Business 7.5 points back.  Putt 4 Dough decided to literally give it up, going into winter hibernation as 4 of their players no showed last week, two of them in the same group.  As a result they yielded the most points of the season to the lucky recipient, 6 Pack, with 80.5 points and dropped from 1.5 points back to 41.5 points back.  Unfinished Business had a respectable outing with 53.5 points, but since the top three teams all scored above 62 points last week, Unfinished Businesses’ business is finished.  They are 17.5 points out of the second wild card spot, behind Young Gunz.  Not an impossible swing, but get your foot wedges out, you’re gonna need ‘em.

Predictions:

Unfortunately, outside of the teams vying for the top spot of the second half, there is very little drama going into the last week this year.  Drive 4 Show, Drawshank Redemption and Hack Attack all have wrapped up their spots in the playoffs unless they pull a 4 person no show like Putt 4 Dough last week.  So long as Unfinished Business doesn’t outscore Young Gunz by 18 points, the fourth and final spot will go to Young Gunz.  I predict my guys on Drawshank will pull out the 2nd half victory beating Hack Attack by more than 2 points.  Hack Attack takes the first wild card and Young Gunz takes the second.
