Well, let’s just say yesterday was not our best day as a team. Braemar defeated Brookview 7-5 at Braemar. For many of the Brookview players, it was the first time playing the new course, and it showed. From comments afterwards, most played decent from tee to green, but the greens were very difficult to read and putt. Large, firm, and undulating. Although we were defeated, there are some highlights (and not so highlights)!
Group 1 – Hansen and Slivken got beat 3-0. Neither of us had our best game, but we played against a couple really good players. We lost the front nine 1-down, but got hammered on the back side.
Group 2- Nelson and Steve Hartmann garnered 2 1/2 points. From Steve’s comments afterwards, Forrest played really well and Steve helped out when needed. Ham and egged well.
Group 3 – Hahka and Tsatsos were defeated 3-0. Didn’t hear much about the match other than Larry didn’t have a putter head. Only the shaft. Yes, you are reading this correctly. Somewhere there is a Ping Anser putter head floating around.😢 Evidently he putted with a wedge.😢😢
Group 4 – Jacobson and Houtz also garnered 2 1/2 points in their match. Again, I didn’t hear much about the match, but I think we won the front side side 1-up and tied the back side. Sounds like it was very close.
We were fortunate not to experience the severe weather that was predicted. We finished just in time. Next match is at Brookview June 16th against Emerald Greens.
