On an absolutely perfect October afternoon the BMGA held its final even of the season, the 2021 BMGA Shootout. After an opening 9 holes, it required a Net 37 to safely make the shootout. We had four players with a Net 38 who had to chip off to make the final 10. Mike Gomez rolled a chip up to 9 inches to make his way in the final 10. This became a familiar refrain for the day. Mike had to face off in a second chip off on Hole #11, defeating Kevin Stoner. Although, not a chip off, Mike chipped in for par on #12. Another chip off on #17 with a bogey net par to defeat Tom Nestvold.
In a wild moment, Mike and Tim Lueder both made 20+ foot birdie putts to advance to the final hole. On the final hole, Tim nearly made his third birdie in a row but had to settle for a par – this lead to another chip off. And again, Mike rolled another chip to within 2 feet to win.
