Metro Seniors continue their solid play

The Golden team played Como and were able to come away with a 14-8 win on the well groomed Daytona course on a beautiful day for golf.  Tom Hansen Shot a net 73, gave up 6 strokes to his opponent and still whomped him giving up only three holes for the day and getting all 6 points for the match. Playing partner Jim Sanford, giving up 8 strokes, shot a net 79 and hung on to tie the back and get 1 point. Dan Olson shot a respectable net 77 but his opponent shot a net 75. Dan had a chance on 9 and 18 to win another hole and get more points, but came away with only 1 point for the match. Gary Scharmer shot a net 78, eked out a win on the front nine and buried his opponent on the back to take all 6 points.

The Valley team, now undefeated for three weeks with a 12-12 tie this week, are still in the basement of the standings.   Larry Larson shot a nice net 75 winning the front nine 4-up. the back nine was very competitive with each player only winning one hole each for a tie. Larry took 5 points with some clutch play. Playing partner and Valley captain Sheldon Silberman and was able to sweep all 6 points with a clutch 20+ foot putt on 18 for a par to halve the hole and preserve the win after his opponent nearly made a 25 foot birdie putt from the fringe that bounced off the flag stick.  Dan Peters, giving up 6 strokes against an opponent that shot a net 70 was skunked with a net 77. Randy Zejdlik also shot a net 77 but was able to halve the back by virtue of a birdie on the 167 yard hole #15, earning 1 point.

Golden is now in 5th place and 11 points out of third.  
Valley is still in the basement, even after three weeks of going undefeated, but just 4 points out of 10th.

Next Friday is at Green Haven. Valley takes on 1st place Fountain Valley and Golden plays 13th place Gross.
