Metro Senior Teams Split at Fountain Valley

On Friday with the course playing long and hard, the Metro Sr squads played University (vs Valley) and Valleywood (vs Golden).

The Valley Team teed off first with Greg Donahue playing league President & Brookview nemesis Skip Schultz. Donahue split the front, but Skip put the pedal down and took the rest of the points. Darrin Allen unfortunately was swept. Dan Peters (the elder) pummeled his opponent and won all 6 points. Randy Zejdlik did not have his best game and also got swept. The final tally was 7-17.

The Golden Team, undefeated for the season, took a gamble and sent 2 rookies out. Dave Repinski came out swinging shot a co-medalist for the day 80 (net 71) and took all 6 in the A match. Mark Steinhauser lost the front side, but came back to win the 2nd 9 and halve the match for a 3 point split. Steve Slivken, trying to bounce back repeated the Steinhauser effect by losing the front, winning the back and splitting the match for 3 more. D player rookie Chris Gaspard who started emailing, calling, texting & faxing the captains in January about getting on a team comes out with a 2 point win on the front, but cannot hold the momentum and loses the back 9 and the match for 2 points. The final was 14-10 win for the 3-0 Golden team.

The standings after week 3 have Valley in last place with 14 points, but closing on Como and Golden in solo 2nd, just 3 points out of 1st.  Individual results are here

Next week we play at Columbia where Valley takes on Gross (who only managed 1 point this week) and Golden will have it’s mettle tested versus Daytona (12th place).
