The Brookview Senior 8-Man season came to an abrupt end Tuesday with a disappointing 7-5 loss at Meadowbrook. To Meadowbrook’s credit, their captain scrambled to find eight players, but two of them were a couple of Clydesdale’s, each carrying a 1.7 handicap and current Meadowbrook club champions. We gave it our best, but we either couldn’t match the abundance of their birdies or gave away holes to par. We had a nice season, finishing 2-3-1 in the tough “A” division. With incoming youngsters (55+) for next year, we should only improve on that record. Looking forward to a Division championship next year.

8-Man Senior Team Victorious
The Brookview 8-Man Senior Team Tuesday defeated the team from Meadowbrook 9 1/2 – 2 1/2. Although the score seems dominating, most of the matches were very close. To highlight, leading off the team of Tom Hansen / Larry Hahka won their match 3-0. Batting second, the team of Steve Slivken / Forrest Nelson won a tighter than it seems match 2 1/2 – 1/2. Batting third, Steve Hartmann / Mark Kraus won their match 3-0, and batting cleanup the team of Charlie Tsatsos / Steve Houtz lost a tough one 2-1. Congrats to Mr. Hartmann for firing a 70 after getting a cortisone shot Monday. Maybe all seniors 55-plus should get a shot or two. After multiple cancellations due to flooding, etc. our final regular season match will be at Meadowbrook Tuesday, July 30th. Then hopefully on to the playoffs. Stay tuned!
