Flight and Division Reminders. Championship Flight, Club Championship Flight 1, Club Championship Flight 2 and Senior Club Championship Flight are all GROSS events.
The 3rd flight of the Club Championship, Net Event of Senior Club Championship and Super Senior Club Championship are NET events. Players will be allotted 95% of their handicap per USGA Appexdix C.
The Valley team, trying to improve on it’s 4th place ranking squeaked out a win vs Daytona. @Randy-Zedjlik was the star of the day winning all 6 points with his net 72. @Chuck-Bernardy won 5 of 6 in a straight up match that was decided by only 2 strokes. @Ted-Roberts won the front-side but could not hold that momentum, dropping the back and the match. @Marty-Mangold shoots a net 72 but loses 5 of 6 to a net 69. I can hear the ‘bagger’ cries now. All told the team wins the week 14-10.
The Golden team, trying to get back in the W column vs Braemar and close that gap with University is led by the day’s medalist with a 72 (net 66) @Tom-Hansen who smoked his opponent and won all 6. @Ramiro-Sifuentes continues his winning ways with a nice 76 (net 68) and also won 6 of 6. Great start. Alas @Gary-Ridout and @Dan-Olson don’t have their best game and win a combined 0 points. That means a 12-12 tie versus the 3rd place Braemar team.
The Golden team, with the 12 points actually lost ground to University who took 17. University now holds a 14 point lead in the league over Brookview Golden. By splitting with Braemar, their lead over that 3rd spot is unchanged at 10 points.
The Valley team unfortunately dropped a spot to 5th in the league as Wirth jumped over them with 17 points for the week. Valley is just one back of 4th place and 4 back of 3rd place Braemar
Some home cooking next week when Brookview Valley hosts. Valley plays 3rd place Braemar and has a chance to move up into the top 3. Golden plays 4th place Wirth.
What a HOT round of golf. Well the standings didn’t change to much, Fairway to Heaven manufactured a 51 point win to regain 1st in their division. We had 2 ties between teams so that has to be a record.
Sunlight will be leaving us faster every week so now is the time to get off the greens as soon as possible so PLEASE finish the holes and give your opponent gimme putts. STOP making your opponent hit a 6 inch putt. I’m going to start stressing READY GOLF now til the playoffs.
Scorecards have been PERFECT so thank you for team numbers and Last names.
1 last thing, I was asked if you guys could fill in your divots on the par 3’s and pick up your broken tees this course could use a little men’s league love.
New GUYS of the week are Aaron Woytke (left) and Dennis Palkert (right). Dennis is Aarons father in law so this would be the 2nd group of father in law/ son in laws in the league. (Mike Deede and Ryan Rodgers on team 16) Dennis went to Fridley Grace and was an all around athlete growing up. His record in league this year is 4 win 4 losses and a tie. Besides golf Dennis works in the cabinet business and Yes business is booming. Aaron was drafted by Mid Round Crisis and fit right in. Aaron is having a stellar year right off the bat with 6 wins 2 losses and 2 ties. He grew up in Albertville and played just about every sport he could.

We dodged what was supposed to be rain in the morning and it ended up just being really hot! In our third year of running the 2-Person Scramble tournament, we had 52 players on 26 teams playing in a single NET and GROSS event.
First place players will take home $50 and 100 BMGA Cup Points. Second place is worth $40 each and 75 BMGA Cup Points. Third place is $25 per player and 50 BMGA Cup Points. Fourth place is $15 per player and 40 BMGA Cup Points.
Week 11 Rain out will be played Sept 8th with a catch? Yes if we happen to be rained out again and its a conference play week we will be making up the conference week instead of week 11. Sunlight will be an issue so we will only make up one rainout this season.
This week is sponsored by Dylan Niska.
2’s and 3’s look great on your scorecard, but they look even better on your mortgage statement.
Mortgage rates remain at historically low levels, with 30 year fixed rates back under 3%.
If you would like to know if you could benefit from a refinance, reach out to BMGA member Dylan Niska (NMLS# 342545) at Tradition Mortgage (NMLS #286998).
If you do business with Dylan you will receive Brookview credit of $150 and BMGA will receive $100!
New guy of the week is Lee Orwig on team Hack Attack. Lee was one of the first sponsors I was able to secure for the scorecard and he wasn’t even in the league yet. If your looking for a personal injury attorney Lee is your man. I was excited last week to finally run into him on the deck. I’m afraid I was concentrating more on the tater tots than asking questions so if you see Lee say Hi and introduce yourself.
Games: I left the game cards at the barbershop I’ll fill it in Monday morning…..

Brookview Golden (BG) vs Valley (BV) in the big Metro Senior head to head matchup. One year ago it was a 12-12 draw at Fountain Valley. This year, new teams, one new captain and the match was at Valleywood.
In the A slot, @Tom-Hansen takes on @Pete-Steichen and is giving 2 strokes. They halve the front side for 1 point each – then Tom manages to win the back and the match. Final : BG 5 – BV 1 Great golf by both with Pete at net 74 and Tom net 75.
In the B match, @Steve-Slivken of BV takes on @Steve-Shellenbaum of BG. Again, they spit the front 9, because of a missed putt by Shellenbaum. Shellenbaum (net 75) then puts the sleeper hold on and takes the back 9 and match. Final BG 5 – BV -1
At this point the Golden boys are feeling great – up 10-2 with 2 matches remaining. BV — “not so fast my friend”.
Match 3 it’s @Jim-Husink (BV) vs @Daniel-Peters (old one) (BG). Again – third match in a row they split the front 9. Husnik (net 76) buries Peters winning the final 9 and the match. Final : BV 5 – BG 1.
In the final match it’s @Randy-Zejdlik (BV) vs @Dan-Olson (BG). Again, the opening 9 is halved. In a battle of attrition (both battle-weary net 82’s) Randy takes the homeward 9 and the match. Final : BV 5 – BG 1.
The end result was another damned tie 12-12. Matches went 5-1 / 5-1 / 1-5 / 1-5.
The 12 points dropped BG further back from first place university. They are now 9 points behind first, but hold on to second by 10 over Braemar. BV did move up in the standings 2 spots all the way to 4th position! They jumped over With and Daytona. BV is just 6 back of third.
Horse Race Betting is ready to go. If you have never done a horse race bet before, you are betting if the team will finish 1st (Win), 2nd (Place) or 3rd (Show).

Tournament Rules
1. Remember, each person must use a minimum of SIX (6) drives for the round to count.
2. Through the green, “winter rules” will be allowed within 1 foot of the ball in play, not closer to the hole. A ball in a hazard, must be played from within the hazard, unless relief is taken per the applicable USGA rule(s).
3. Each team is entered into both the NET and GROSS tournaments at the same time. You can win both!
HORSE BET RACING IS COMPLETED!!! A few notes about the below results. Odds are rounded to a whole number – the spreadsheet is the authority for payout. Odds are based on win bets. Place and show pay out less of course. Lastly, remember that in the event of a tie for 1st, 2nd or 3rd the tie breaker will be: A) Chip Off if all players are available – if not – B) USGA Tie Breaker Method.
Please note we are planning to have the year-end banquet at Brookview on Friday, October 29th. We will be working with the club about capacity limits, so at this time it is unknown if guests will be invited.
More info to come as we get closer, and hopefully we’ll be able to bring our better-halves and kiddos to help celebrate a great year of golf.
There is an inaugural LPGA Champions Tour event happening August 5th-7th down at Meadows of Mystic Lake. Y’all should be signed up for the Club Championship on the 7th/8th, but if you have some free time that Thursday (Pro-Am) and/or Friday (day 1 of the 2-day tournament) it may be worth checking out and helping support women’s golf.
The 70th MPGA Senior PubLinks was held on July 17-18 at Eastwood Golf Club in Rochester. It was a great weekend of weather and competition. The course was in excellent condition and the greens were perfect and running fast. If you are down in the Rochester area and have the chance to play, I highly recommend checking Eastwood Golf Club out for a round.
There were only two Brookview members competing this weekend, but they are prominent members, Ramiro Sifuentes and Roger Hamm. Our boys represented Brookview with accolades.
Ramiro competed in the Net 1 flight. He got out of the blocks on Saturday in round 1 with a flying start carding a opening 9 1-over 36 gross, that included 2 birdies and a double on the 9th. He carried his great play onto the back nine carding a 2-over 38, with another 2 birdies and another double. This tallied to a gross 3-over 74 gross (66 net) and his career low round placing himself with a 6 shot lead after day 1. He was also the only competitor in the net 1 division to card an under-par net round the entire weekend. His second round was played well in line with the rest of the field carding an 83 gross (75 net) and extended his lead and becoming the 2021 MPGA Senior Net 1 Champion with a 1-under net total and a seven shot victory. Congratulations to Ramiro and the WNL needs to congratulate him!!!
Roger was in the Net 2 flight. His opening round 87 (net 75) placed him in the middle of the pack and 10 back after day 1. However, Roger came back with a vengeance in round 2. He had an opening 9 6-over (Even Net) and flew up the leaderboard to 4th place. He then stepped on the gas on the back nine carding a 3-over (4-under net) for huge day 2 rally shooting a 79 (67 net) moving himself into 2nd place where he finished. He was also 1 of only 2 guys to shoot an under par net round in the flight for the weekend.
