Metro Senior teams advance at Columbia – Golden is still undefeated!

It was a chilly start but ended up being a great day for golf last Friday at Columbia as the Metro Sr squads played Gross (vs Valley) and Daytona (vs Golden).

The Valley Team A/B group of Ramiro Sifuentos and Dean Penk played strong all the way through and earned 11 of the possible 12 points. Darin Allen and Sheldon Silberman faired a little worse but with Silberman winning the last hole and a split for the match the Valley team got their first win of the season. Allen was shut out with some untimely missed chips. The final tally was 14-10.

The Golden Team, remained undefeated for the season, but just barely. Stan Hop, fresh off the old course in Scotland took no prisoners and swept his match with a sweet 84, net 70. Gary Ridout played well but dropped the back nine and still won the match for another 4 points. Dan Olson won the front and hung on to tie the match to garner 3 points. Chris Gaspard was shut out with his opponent shooting a net 72. The final was 13-11 win for the 4-0 Golden team.

The standings after week 4  have Valley in last place with 28 points, but only 14 points out of 10th place and Golden in solo 2nd, just 1 point out of 1st.  Individual results are here

Next week the league is off for Memorial Day weekend but things pick up the following wee at Wirth. Valley takes on Columbia (who is hanging around the middle of the pack) and Golden takes on Braemar (9th place).
