On May 20 & 21 the MPGA held their annual Fourball event at Monticello Country Club. Competing from the BMGA were a team of Towey & Sifuentes and Dave Schoeller partnered with a buddy from Tanners Brook GC.
Towey & Sifuentes struggeled on the first 9, at +1, then Jeff found his swing on the 2nd 9 and they finished day one at -4, just 3 off the lead. On day 2 they came out strong and got to -7 after 27 holes, just one off the lead. All that work must have caught up with them as the back 9 came in at +2, finishing them at -5. The good news is that is a T4 for the event. Which I am sure is a disappointment as they won this event at Elk River a year ago.
Schoeller & Hernandez were one stroke off the lead after Saturday and in a great position. They also had a nice front 9, playing alongside Sifuentes & Towey, also at -7 after 27 holes, just one off the leader. Schoeller & Hernandez played well on the last 9, including a net eagle for a skin, but could not keep up with the eventual winners (at -13) but scoring a great -10 for a 2 stroke advantage in the 2nd place position.
