The wheels came off for Gaspard and he forgot how to hit the ball scoring a 6 on 17 and a pick up on 18. Haws stayed consistent with four pars on the back 9 including a par on 17 and a bogey on 18. The match was tied and going into a playoff on hole 1. Matt hit right, in front of the pond. Gaspard missed the drive and did not make the fairway. Gaspard hit a long fairway wood into the left rough 100 yards out. Haws hit the green and bounced over setting him up for a short chip shot. Gaspard hit the green from 100 out and left himself a 20 footer. Haws chipped on, but did not get the ball to roll down the hill toward the pin on the front of the green. Haws putted downhill and missed the hole by less than half an inch, and leaving him with a 3 foot uphill putt. Gaspard putted and left it short. Haws hit the 3 foot putt for a five. Gaspard putted in from 2.5 feet to also get a five.
It did not occur to Gaspard that the match was won with the stroke that Haws had to give on the hole.
