On a beautiful day 26 teams battled for the largest calcutta pot in BMGA History. Full results are here: https://www.golfgenius.com/pages/10315283464684881850
After the best ball 18 holes, everyone was chasing Ben Zurn (net 68) & Jeff Towey (net 74) who combined for a team net 61.
That was good for a 3 stroke lead over Chris Gaspard & Patrick Hoffman, 4 over the teams of Kevin Monogue & Michael Saless; Brett Notvedt & Michael Ryan; Brian Beitlich & Dan Grubb. Four other teams were at net 66.
As always the tournament turns on the final 9 holes where both balls count.
Towey & Zurn continued their solid play and turned in a net 71 (-1) even after dropping shots on 8 & 9. None of the chasers could better that…except
Mike Gomez & Scott Syverson come charging with their 67 (-5) on the back of Gomez who shoots a 35 (net 31!) with gross birdies on 2, 8 and 9. They closed the gap by 5 strokes in the last 4 holes.
The end result was a 1 stroke win by Zurn & Towey over Gomez & Syverson.
