The match of the day was a 22 hole slugfest between Connor Paulsen and Darin Allen. Conner was 2 up after 11 then Darin comes back to square it at the 13th, They were tied on the 18th tee, and each managed a bogey. The drama was just getting started. Both par on 1 and again on 2. Darin, reportedly making long putts to stay alive. Both par again on 3. Then, Connor slipped on 4 while Darin made his 4th straight par in sudden death. Must have been nerve racking!
The round of the day belonged to H. Hoffman. He played newcomer Eric Fryc. Eric was getting 7 shots.
Howie starts with a tap in birdie on #1 (and closest in 2 shots as it was – what 3 inches?) and continues with 3 straight birdies. He finishes the front 9 with 6 birdies to go with his 2 bogies and a 32. That puts him 5 up at the turn. He starts the back 9 with 5 straight pars and Eric cannot keep pace, getting closed out. Howie then goes birdie-eagle on 15 & 16, finishing with a 34 back 9 and a overall 66 and 2 on course prizes.
