Senior 8-Man Season Comes to Abrupt End

The Brookview senior 8-man season came to an abrupt end as we were soundly defeated by Majestic Oaks today in the semifinals 9.5-2.5.  Some highlights of the day included the team of Tom Hansen / Gary Ridout earning a split in their match 1.5-1.5.  From what I hear is they made long putts on the final two holes to halve the match.  The team of Larry Hahka / Steve Hartmann fought hard to earn a point in their match.  That’s it for points gained.  The Steve Slivken / Forrest Nelson team ham-and-egged well but lost each side 1 down.  UGH!!!!  The team of Jim Sanford /  Mark Kraus lost their match 3-0.  However Jim fired a 72 only to run into a buzz saw as the eleven time Majestic Oaks Club champion fired a 68 WITH HIS OWN BALL.  Yikes!

It was a fun, memorable season as we won our division, posting a 5-1 regular season.  We subsequently defeated Riverwoods 15-9 in the quarterfinals.  Today, simply, Majestic Oaks was just too good.

Thanks so much to everyone who participated, flipped schedules around, and made the season a success.  I know it is not easy to do, nor always possible.   Next year looks very promising as we add some “young blood” to the team.

Senior 8-man Team takes Commanding Lead in Playoffs

—Dateline Golden Valley—

In the first round of the playoffs, the Brookview Senior 8-Man team took a commanding lead in the home / home total point match against Riverwoods, winning the first round 10 1/2 – 1 1/2.   Playing at Brookview, the BMGA fielded it’s strongest team ever (or at least since I have been involved).

In match #1 Mark Kraus and Larry Hahka won their match 2-1.  In match #2, Tom Hansen and Steve Hartmann dominated 3-0.  In match #3 Forrest Nelson and Mike Deede kicked butt 3-0.  And in match #4 Scott Hartmann and Jim Sanford squeaked out a 2 1/2 – 1/2 victory.

As a team we played very well.  But please check out these individual scores.  Tom Hansen -73, Steve Hartmann – 74, Mike Deede – 75, Mark Kraus – 75, Scott Hartmann – 76 (with an OB on #18), Forrest Nelson – 80.  All from the Member Tees.  Great scoring.  All these players are entered in this weekend’s Senior Club Championship.  Should be fun.  I realize it is a different division, but I would be shaking in my boots if I were Mr. Hoffman, Mr. Hendrickson, or Mr. Supalla.

The return match will be at Riverwoods 8/28 where we will need 2 points out of 12 to secure the round 1 victory.

WNL Draft Results

Here are your results of the 2018 BMGA Draft Night Party.  There are some good looking teams on this list but a lot of unanswered questions.  Did WTF do enough to stay on top?  Can Team 13 shake the unlucky number and get out of the basement this year?  Does Young Gunz need a new name?  Will the two father-son duos reign supreme this year?  Did we need more music last night?  All of these questions will be answered soon.  League starts in three weeks!

Welcome to the BMGA 2018

I just wanted to take a quick moment to let everyone know some of the updates and changes on the bmga.org website.

Login/Password

If you are having issues logging in, there is a “Lost Password” option on the home page (to the right of this post in blue).  Simply enter your username to reset your password.  If you need to change your password, once you are logged in and under your name (upper right corner) you can choose “Edit My Profile” to update your password.  This is going to be updated in the coming days to be a little more “friendly” but it does work.

Register For Tournaments

Once you are logged in, you can register for any tournaments by simply clicking a tournament event and choosing register.  You can play online via Paypal or drop a check off at the course.  We will also be adding a Venmo option for tournaments.  Details are coming for payment options.

Stats, More Stats and Even More States

Curious how you did last year?  Look under League Stats for a few options:

  • Next Gen Stats: This will show you ever year you have been in league, your average scores and you can even see how you did against others in the league.  Pretty neat stuff.
  • Cup Points (Year): This will show you BMGA Cup Points for the past two years and this years stats will appear here as well.
  • League Stats (Year): Will show you the league average per hole scoring, top 15 in Eagles, Birdies and Pars for each year.

Message Board

This did not get used enough last year.  Want to talk trash, tell the world why you are the best player or simply have a bit of fun.  Check out the message board to see what is happening.

Again, if you have any thoughts of things you would like to see added to the website please let me know.  If you are new to the BMGA this year, I would recommend checking out the Local Rules under Information.  There is a lot of good stuff there.

If you have any issues getting your password reset you can always e-mail registration@bmga.org for assistance.

Introducing On Course Scoring

Over the next few tournament the BMGA will introduce on course scoring for our weekend events.  Our system was tested in a limited fashion at the Greek Scramble with positive results.  So we will be opening up on-course scoring to all tee times in the 2-Man Rotation.

How Does It Work

Prior to the tournament, each member of a four-some would receive an e-mail on directions on how to login to the scoring site.  Only one person from each foursome needs to enter scores online.  Scoring is done from a mobile phone using a web browser.  There are no special apps to download.  The e-mail will include the Web Address, Tournament Number and Scoring Code to login.

a

IMPORTANT: Only one individual from each tee time needs to enter scores!

Once logged in you will see three tabs: Scoring, Leaderboard and Tee Times.  The Scoring tab may look different for each event.  In the above image, we are looking at the scoring for the 2-Man Rotation.  For each hole, enter the score for the team and click Next Hole.  When you click on the Leaderboard, you can see exactly where you are in the tournament at a glance.  Make sure to click Refresh Leaderboard to get the latest results.

IMPORTANT: The physical scorecard is required.  Online scoring is OPTIONAL and not required.  It’s there for fun and see what is happening on the course.

After the tournament we would love to hear feedback.
